The design theory for both Art Deco and Streamline Moderne interior design is pretty loose and sometimes contradictory. Different people had and still have different views ff what makes an effective Art Deco or Streamline Moderne room. Aspects of design can be as simple as the best colors to the shapes incorporated to the use of more complex theories like Cubism or French Paquebot. Interesting differences also exist between how artists from different countries interpreted the style as a group as well as individually. Some followed the precepts of Modernism while others were more traditionalist. This time period was also notable for its use of new materials which affected the ultimate style of the final design.
